A Pennsylvania man who gave up most of his rights to appeal when he bargained with prosecutors has changed his mind and is appealing his 53 month sentence for mortgage fraud.
Gregory M. Finney, himself, filed an appeal notice requesting his sentence be reviewed. He had initially pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering, but then pleaded guilty last August. His plea agreement stated that waived most of his rights to directly appeal his sentence.
Finney, 35, was one of six people charged in the case. All the other defendants have pleaded guilty.
