A New York senator is asking that the government authorize millions in grants for nationwide law enforcement to use to tackle mortgage fraud.
Sen. Charles Schumer won $875,000 to establish a Brooklyn mortgage fraud unit and is fighting the good fight for other law authorities around the country. Schumer introduced legislation today that, if approved, would authorize $100 million in grants annually to local prosecutors.
Grants would be issued to competing local prosecutors by the Attorneys General.
