Sentencing and Status Hearings

November 13, 2008

Two Chicago cases are nearing end as one man gets sentenced next month and another has a status hearing. Both involve mortgage fraud but at opposite ends of the spectrum. Jeff Trochowski pleaded guilty to wire fraud after helping real estate developer Greg Sawra defraud lenders of over $700,000 in mortgage loans. On Dec. 14, Trochowski faces up to eight to 14 months in prison. Both Trochowski and Sawra will have to pay restitution to their victims. In a separate case, Jonathan Hon is charged with defrauding the federal government in a $2.5 million low-income housing assistance scam through his Chicago-based mortgage company. His status hearing is set for Dec. 19. Read story at The Times
