October 21, 2008
The state of Colorado has conducted numerous mortgage fraud investigations that have garnered the state many settlements and victories in the war against mortgage fraud, including new statewide standards for truthful advertising in mortgage loans.
Denver’s Arbor Financial, Inc., 5280 financial Group and Centennial-based Mortgage Toolbox have all agreed to stop using deceptive teaser rates in advertisements. Civil claims have been filed against Englewood-based Home Mortgage Solutions, Inc., and three individuals, Toan Le (aka James Le) and An Nguyen, and general manager Leonard Smith.
Other companies the state has taken action against include Encore Lending, LLC, Paul Baker, California-based Tri-Point Realty, and 15 foreclosure rescue companies, including: Crisis Management in Glendale, Arizona; Davis Foreclosure Assistance in Englewood, New Jersey; The Debt Advocacy Center in Cleveland, Ohio; Franklin Equity in Santa Ana, California; HomeAssure in New York, National Foreclosure Counseling Services in Jacksonville, Fla. and New Hope Modifications in Bellmawr, New Jersey.
