Mortgage Fraud as Crime in South

The Alabama Senate unanimously agreed to approve a bill that would make mortgage fraud a crime.
The bill, by Sen. Bobby Denton D-Ala. would make it a felony to deliberately lie during the mortgage lending process with the intent that the information would be relied on by another party. The offense would be punishable by one to 10 years in prison.
The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
