To help handle the rising flood in fraud complaints the Federal Bureau of Investigation has become more proactive by adding a mortgage fraud hotline.
The San Antonio, Texas-based FBI office has installed a new telephone hotline for consumers to report possible mortgage fraud. The agency is hoping that catching the fraud early on will help keep some homeowners from losing their home.
Several families had been swindled by Rosie Divens before they had even known it. Divins was arrested last December and is accused of defrauding several homeowners of their homes after promising to help keep the home from falling to foreclosure.
The FBI is asking anyone with information about possible cases of mortgage fraud to call 210-650-6777 and leave a message.
