Today's new scams can be avoided if consumers understand how the mortgage process works and what tricks con artists are up to these days.
Remind consumers not to sign anything without legal representation or a trustworthy individual to review it. New scams include cons getting homeowners to sign their deed over without understanding that they are still responsible for the mortgage payments.
There are many programs available to help homeowners who might be facing default or believe they are a victim of mortgage fraud.
