Scheme Allegedly Targeted HUD Homeowners

Four people have been indicted for participating in an alleged mortgage fraud scheme that targeted lower income prospective homeowners whose mortgage loans were guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Kandace Marriott, 52, Darrell Lynn Marriott, 55, and Karen Hayes have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. The trio has been accused of making at least 88 false statement to obtain property or credit.
The Marriott’s daughter, Kally Marriott was indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity for securing the execution of a document by deception. The defendants operated Torenia Inc. in Kaufman County, Texas.
