PRESS RELEASE
Website Touts Fake Income
Interthinx issues warning about proofofincome.com
|
| |
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. -- (September 30, 2006) Interthinx has recently confirmed the existence of a website called proofofincome.com which was set up to produce realistic payroll facsimiles to be used for loan qualification purposes. The information contained on these self-service payroll generated forms is not legitimate. Per the messaging on the website, “No payroll experience is needed and the tools on this website are fast and easy.”
Through our investigation it appears that the site has the dual purpose of not only producing good quality fake documentation, but also Identity Theft. The customers to this pay-site are required to input credit card and personal information that would facilitate hi-jacking of the user’s credit profile.
The web site domain was created in 06/2004 in the Upland California area. The proprietor of the web site has been added to our Internal Watchlists and the National Fraud Protection Database. The information gathered through this investigation has been provided to the appropriate authorities within the Department of Justice. If you have additional questions regarding the information presented in this client alert please contact, Interthinx Client Relations @ 818-878-2800.
Interthinx was notified of this website by our industry partner, Cheryl Howe of ALS. Thanks to her diligence we have been able to more thoroughly investigate and document this site.
