March 13, 2009
Two companies have been accused of offering loan modification services without a license and another for blatant mortgage fraud.
The New Jersey Attorney General's office has filed civil fraud lawsuits against three corporate defendants. Both Hope Now Financial Services Corp., of Cherry Hill, N.J. and New Hope Modifications of Bellmawr, N.J. are accused of running an unlicensed loan modification service, taking up-front fees and not providing the services promised.
The third company is Casey Properties of Totowa, N.J. which involved 63 properties and 32 investors that were allegedly duped as blogged in "Straw-Buying Slum Lords."
