Manipulated by Estranged Daughter

A judge sentenced a straw buyer to only three years probation after acknowledging that the man had been manipulated into participating in the mortgage fraud scheme ran by his estranged daughter.
Marlin Sprouts Jr., 53, the first African-American city councilman in Uniontown, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud in April. The councilman subsequently lost his teaching job and could reportedly, lose his seat on the council.
He was also ordered to pay almost $700,000 in restitution. His daughter, Tiffany Lynn Sprouts, owner of Sprouts Mortgage LLC, Michael Pope and others also pleaded guilty to the scheme. Tiffany Sprouts is awaiting sentencing.
