Testimony before the House committee by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Director remained focused on the efforts to investigate and prosecute mortgage fraud as the caseload continues to rise.
FBI Director Robert S. Mueller II said over the last three years, mortgage fraud investigations have more than tripled and the number of assigned agents had more than doubled. The agency expects to see a significant increase in mortgage fraud according to the increase in Suspicious Activity Reports filed from financial institutions around the country.
MortgageDaily.com reported on the agency director's testimony that includes details on the new method the FBI uses to detect and combat mortgage fraud -- a property flipping analytical computer application that will soon be used nationwide.
