Mortgage Fraud Lawsuits Tumble

Mortgage fraud-related litigation showed signs of slowing down in the fourth quarter, according to an industry report of active cases covered by MortgageDaily.com.
The report included 202 active cases tracked by the industry publication and was prepared in conjunction with the law firm of Weiner Brodsky Sidman Kider PC. While most of the categories, i.e. lawsuits relating to specific issues, including compliance, mortgage fees and secondary marketing saw a decline in occurrence, those relating to mortgage fraud fell to five cases from 18 in the prior quarter.
The five cases included in the report involved defendants RBC Mortgage, Washington Mutual, Encore Lending, other mortgage companies, title companies and several individuals. More information on each case in the report can be found at MortgageDaily.com.
