New Task Force Clamps Down

A newly formed task force is focused on protecting citizens from housing crimes and those facing foreclosure while sending the message that they won’t tolerate mortgage fraud in their county.
The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office has a new Mortgage and Foreclosure Division that hopes to move 20 cases to indictment soon. The division is investigating loan officers, title companies, lawyers and brokerages that might have participated in mortgage fraud.
The division is interviewing complainants on the phone and then requiring a written summary for follow-up to evaluate citizen complaints.
