A 51-year-old man was sentenced 15 months in prison for assisting in a $12 million mortgage fraud scheme.
Joseph Balano pleaded guilty to helping co-defendant David Kostelec and others secure mortgage loans with fraudulent loan applications and inflated property appraisals. Kostelec was sentenced to almost 13 years in prison after pleading guilty.
Others named in the scheme include: Alexandra Davidson, Craig Long and Gregory Stevenson. The trio have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
Balano was also ordered to pay almost $500,000 in restitution.
