Preliminary Hearing Stalled
|
| |
December 11, 2008
The preliminary hearing for a brother and sister charged with running a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme stalled out after the pair left the court room moments after arriving to try to arrange a plea deal. A deal, however, was not reached.
Eric Pony and sister, Paulette, are accused with five others of running a fraud scheme that swindled hundreds of homeowners into mortgages with higher rates and undisclosed terms.
FOX 11 News had confronted Pony when the charges were initially filed against his California mortgage company, Lifetime Financial, and were met with an angry Pony who denied any wrongdoing and hurled profanity and threats against the news reporter and cameraman.
