Four people have been charged and a fifth suspect is being sought in a $3 million mortgage fraud scheme that preyed on tenants who were promised a rent-to-own situation.
Trinity Ruffian, also known as Trinity Hansen, Brian Chili, James Dalonzo, Jeremy Hatlee and Paul Bosnyak have been charged with conspiracy and grand theft while working with Alternative Home Finance, Inc.
Officials say straw buyers were used to purchase 15 homes that were occupied by tenants who were told they would have the option to buy the house after making a year of monthly payments that would be applied to the mortgage. All of the homes fell into foreclosure and the tenants lost their $5,000 downpayments.
