Rent-to-Own Scheme Falling Apart

Tenants that have been renting-to-own from one man in Texas are coming forward as some of them are discovering they may have been hoodwinked.

Several people have contacted their local newspaper with claims that the same man, Robert “Bob” Alford III of “Bob Buys Houses” has taken several thousands of dollars towards a down payment on their home, only to find they were never given the option to buy.

So far, six homeowners have had their credit damaged or their house has foreclosed. One person the newspaper contacted did say Alford sold the home. Others are still nervously renting.
