January 22, 2009
Legislation to form a nationwide mortgage fraud task force was passed last September by the House but blocked by the Republicans in the U.S. Senate.
Florida Congressman Kendrick B. Meek introduced the Nationwide Mortgage Fraud Task Force Act of 2009 to help victims of mortgage fraud and prevent future fraud through the effective use of education, legislation, regulation, law enforcement and prosecution.
