Ringleader Decides to Plead Guilty

April 24, 2009
A man who solicited delinquent borrowers from information obtained from Countrywide Mortgage employees has decided to change his plea to guilty.
Brent Timothy Baird pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud after leaving delinquent mortgage holders homeless. Baird obtained more than $3.5 million in assets, cash and personal property from the scheme that promised investors profits from buying homes from homeowners that were delinquent in their mortgage payments and letting the homeowner then rent the property.
Baird ran McKinney, Tex.-based Baird Management Group or BMG offering investors to take part in a "mortgage reinstatement program."
