February 11, 2009
Three people are charged with committing mortgage fraud against an elderly couple, one of which is handicapped. The couple thought they were refinancing their mortgage only to find out that their home had fallen into foreclosure.
Nellie Briggs, 45, Lorie Westerfield, 22, and Winston Pulliam have been accused of scamming the couple out of their Lansing, Mich. home. Westerfield's real estate license was suspended and she was convicted of federal wire fraud and sentenced to five years probation prior to this charge.
