April 1, 2009
A woman who said she was the victim of mortgage fraud received a reprieve just days before her home was to be taken in foreclosure.
Sherrita Richardson's story made its way to her state representative and has attracted national interest. Richardson has filed a lawsuit against the mortgage broker and seller of the home she bought in 2004, claiming she was misled with an inflated appraisal and that her costs in the purchase were not fully disclosed.
The foreclosure process was stopped while the case is being investigated.
