Mortgage Fraud Strike Force Launched
|
| |
April 15, 2009
The Nevada Attorney General is warning residents to be on the lookout for mortgage fraud and those seeking to deceive homeowners in the state that is number one in the nation for foreclosures.
The Mortgage Fraud Strike Force was designed to take action against predatory "mortgage rescue" companies and others claiming to offer services to stop foreclosures. AG Catherine Cortez Masto said the task force uses resources from her office as well as works closely with other state agencies with regulatory authority over mortgage lending.
Masto said to heed warning signs such as being advised to transfer the property deed or title to the company in question or making home mortgage payments directly to the individual or company instead of the mortgage lender.
