A 28-year-old woman who lied on her mortgage application was sentence to three years probation.
Temika Gustus admitted she falsely claimed to have a second job and added $20,000 to one of her bank balances in order to obtain a mortgage. Federal agents discovered the fraud during an investigation of a D.C. tax scam. Gustus was not involved in the scam but the woman who assisted her in the fraud, Alethia Grooms, was a key member of the tax scam.
